Museum of Nature and Man
The Museum of Nature and Man in Freiburg displays a wide variety of animals, plants, minerals and cultural artefacts. Visitors can explore the themes of forest, water and meadow, the mineral kingdom and different geological periods in the museum’s permanent exhibition. The Forest Experience Room also appeals to all the senses: listen to the sounds of the forest, breathe in the refreshing scent of spruce, discover burying beetles and tiny creatures through a magnifying glass, and feel the soft or bristly fur of forest animals. In the Water Experience Room, visitors can embark on a fascinating dive and explore the deep sea and its mysterious creatures through portholes. Numerous insects and birds of all sizes await discovery in the Meadow Experience Area alongside the Hinterwälder cow ‘Bärbel’. In addition to the experience areas, the museum also houses a collection of everyday and ritual objects from around the world, minerals in all shapes and colours, and a special exhibition on myths.
