Skiing
Winter and the Black Forest are a perfect match. And even better: the Vosges are right next door – offering ideal conditions for winter sports and all kinds of winter fun. Whether on the slopes or in the halfpipe, on cross-country trails, snowshoe trails or hiking paths through the winter forest — here you can discover the white season in all its splendour and variety. There are virtually no limits to your thirst for adventure.
Belchen – panoramic mountain in the Black Forest
The Belchen ski resort is situated in the southern Black Forest and, at 1,414 metres, is the highest mountain in the Southern Black Forest Nature Park.
Snow sports enthusiasts have been using the Belchen as a winter sports destination for over 100 years. Today, families in particular feel at home in this small ski resort with guaranteed snow, as everything is in one place: skiing, tobogganing, hiking and stopping for refreshments. And if you book a room in a guesthouse or chalet on site, you can ski straight from the slopes to your accommodation.
The Belchen Ski Resort
The Belchen cable car gondolas take skiers, snowboarders and tobogganists to the mountain station (1,356 m) at the Belchenhaus. The four slopes, the toboggan run and the hiking trail all start from there. Whether you choose the easy run or one of the red runs, after about a third of the descent all runs lead onto the easy valley run. Depending on the route chosen, this ends either directly at the valley station or in the village.
Anyone who wants to learn to ski or improve their technique can make use of the services offered by the ski and snowboard schools.
Sledging & Hiking
The hiking trail and the toboggan run lead down into the valley along the former summit road. They run parallel to one another, offering fun for the whole family. Whilst the little ones enjoy the child-friendly toboggan run, the adults can walk alongside on the hiking trail.
The guided snowshoe hikes at sunrise are a special experience. Early in the morning, the torchlight tour sets off up to the summit, at around 1,414 metres. After the unique sunrise and a short descent to the Belchenhaus, a hearty breakfast awaits the participants. Anyone wishing to go on a tour alone or at their own pace can hire snowshoes at the valley station.
